In this task, students will learn the sound /s/ as in sigh.
If the student says the letter’s name (/ĕs/), say: “This sound is /sss/. Let’s read it together. Get ready: /sss/. Good. Your turn…”
This task returns to segmenting two continuous phonemes followed by a final stop phoneme: log, map, Nat, and Ned. (Was and more have three continuous phonemes.) However, this time students are not saying each word simultaneously with the instructor before trying it on their own.
This task returns to blending two continuous phonemes followed by a final stop phoneme: lit, rug, mad, and let. (Ram and fin have three continuous phonemes.) However, this time the instructor does not tell students any of the words before saying them slowly.
This is the first Word Reading task in which students read six words.
