Cycle 120
120.1 Letter Combinations
Purpose and Procedure
This task requires students to read words that contain the ir or ur letter combinations and that also contain consonant blends. Students are not asked to identify the letter combination or its sound before reading the word.
120.4 Patterns
Purpose and Procedure
Starting in this task, students must determine when to read the minor sound of g and when to read its major sound.
120.6 Story Reading
Purpose and Procedure
This is the first time students will read capital letters in the story text, which will only occur in the Re-Read tasks for now.
The new passage in this task is the first in which the ir and ur letter combinations appear in story text (underlined for now).
120.7 Word Parts
Purpose and Procedure
This task introduces students to the de- beginning.
It is a continuation of the series introducing students to words with beginnings that are unstressed first syllables in which the letter e can make the schwa sound (/ə/).
Because it is especially important that students hear the schwa sound in these words before repeating them, you will use the sound buttons in this task rather than reading the words yourself.
