## 77.2 Patterns -VCe

#### Purpose and Procedure

In this task, you continue to teach students about words with a Vowel-Consonant-*e* (-VCe) pattern by exposing them to pairs of minimally different CVC and CVCe words, but this time the earlier vowel in all of the words is *i*, so the silent *e* will always change the sound from /ĭ/ to /ī/.

## 77.3 Similar Sounds

#### Purpose and Procedure

In this task, you’ll introduce students to pronouncing *n* as /ŋ/ when it comes before a *k*. Pronounce every *n* in this task as /ŋ/.

Pronounce every *th* in this task with an unvoiced /th/ sound (like *thin*, not like *them*).
