# Cycle 180

## 180.1 Letter Combinations

#### Purpose and Procedure

This task requires students to read words that contain the minor *ow* sound without being asked to identify the letter combination or its sound before reading the word.

## 180.5 Story Reading

#### Purpose and Procedure

This is the first task in which the *ew* letter combination appears in story text (underlined for now). It is also the first passage with words that contain the *ea* letter combination when it makes its minor sound (also underlined for now).

## 180.6 Word Parts

#### Purpose and Procedure

This task introduces students to the *trans-* beginning. They learn that words with *trans-* usually have to do with something crossing from one place to another.

The first two parts of this task follow the regular format where students touch and repeat the words in the first part and then touch and read the words in the second part.

This task also has a third part where students read the base word *tranform* with five different endings they already learned. For some of the words, you ask students about the meaning of the ending.
