# Cycle 114

## 114.1 Letter Combinations

#### Purpose and Procedure

This task requires students to read simple words containing the *ou* letter combination after they identify the letter combination and its sound.

## 114.4 Patterns

#### Purpose and Procedure

Starting in this task, students must determine when to read the minor sound of *c* and when to read its major sound.

## 114.7 Word Parts

#### Purpose and Procedure

This task introduces students to the *-le* ending.

This is the first *Word Parts* task that introduces a new word part. It follows a format that will be repeated for most word parts as they are introduced throughout the rest of the curriculum.

In the first part of the task, students are asked to look at a group of words to find what they have in common. The common word part is then underlined for the students to see. Students then repeat each word after you say it, listening for the sound that the new word part makes. They do not read the words in the first part of the task.

In the next part of the task, students read words that contain the word part they just learned. That word part is then highlighted in blue font at the end of the task.
