# Cycle 89

## 89.1 Vowel Names

#### Important Reminders

When we ask what sound a letter “usually makes,” we are asking for the vowel's “short” sounds, in other words /ăăă/, /ĕĕĕ/, /ĭĭĭ/, /ŏŏŏ/, or /ŭŭŭ/.

## 89.4 Irregulars

#### Purpose and Procedure

This is the first time that students read these three words with symbols beneath all of the irregularly pronounced sounds.

This is also the first time students read these words without you first reminding them that they rhyme or that they have a similar sound in them.
