In this task, students will learn the sound /k/ as in cat.
This is another stop phoneme (like t/, /d/, /g/, and /h/). Make sure you do not stop at the arrow under the sound, and take care to make as little of a vowel sound after it as possible. It should be /k/ not /kŭh/.
This task returns to segmenting and blending words that have initial consonant blends (that begin with a stop phoneme) and that have final stop phonemes, but, this time, the instructor will not always say any of the words first, and the student and instructor will not segment any of them simultaneously before the student attempts it solo.
In this task, the onsets are /r/, /t/, and /m/. All words will rhyme with or.
This task has students read their first words that have initial consonant blends of a stop sound followed by a continuous sound.Cliff and grill end with continuous sounds while crack and glad end with stop sounds.
The new passage in this task introduces exclamation points.
