In this task, students will learn the sound /k/ as in cat. This is another quick sound (like t/, /d/, /g/, and /h/).
Make sure you do not stop at the arrowhead under the sound, and take care to make as little of a vowel sound after it as possible. It should be /k/ not /kǝ/.
This task returns to saying words slowly and fast that have initial consonant blends that begin with a quick sound and that have final quick sounds, but this time you will not say any of the words first, and you and the student will not say any of them slowly simultaneously before the student attempts it solo.
In this task, the onsets are /r/, /t/, and /m/. All words will rhyme with or.
This is the first time students read words that have initial consonant blends consisting of a quick sound followed by a continuous sound. Cliff and grill end with continuous sounds while crack and glad end with quick sounds.
The new passage introduces exclamation points.
