This task requires students to read simple words containing the *oo* letter combination after they identify the letter combination and its sound.

This is the first time students are asked to read -VCe pattern words with a *-ly* suffix.

## 140.6 Story Reading

#### Purpose and Procedure

The *Re-Read* portion of this task is the first in which there are no lines beneath the text. This is also the first task in which the *au* letter combination is not underlined.

## 140.7 Word Parts

#### Purpose and Procedure

This task continues to teach students the *com-* beginning. 

It follows the regular format where students touch and repeat the words in the first part but touch and read the words in the second part.
