## 19.1 New Sound

{% embed url="<https://youtu.be/V19xqApM5PM>" %}

#### Purpose and Procedure

In this task, students will learn the sound /r/ as in *rain*.

Make sure not to add a vowel sound before it (like /ər/ at the end of the word *painter*) or after it (like /rǝ/ at the beginning of the word *reward*). The correct pronunciation is like saying the word *roar* without the *oar* at the end.

## 19.3 The Slow-Fast Game

#### Important Reminders

Treat the /h/ sound at the beginning of *hey* as a quick sound. If necessary, ask students to take a deep breath before they say it.

## 19.6 Finger Tracking

#### Purpose and Procedure

In this task, students track fruit across more than two lines, which prepares them for tracking their fingers across more than two lines of text later.

At the end of each line, make sure that students follow the dashed arrows to the start of the next line.

## 19.7 Story Reading

#### Purpose and Procedure

This task introduces stories that continue across three lines of text. It also introduces stories with more than one sentence.
