In this task, students will learn the sound /kw/ as in quilt.
It is actually a combination of two sounds: the initial quick sound /k/ and then a continuous sound /www/, which is why there is a dot beneath it.
Like with all other continuous sounds, hold this one for two seconds.
Even though this represents two characters, we want students to recognize it as a single unit, which is why the characters are visibly connected.
Like the other letter combinations that you’ve taught (th, sh, and ks, for example), your finger will stay over the dot beneath the sound the whole time, and not move from beneath the q to beneath the u as you read it.
Pronounce every n in this task as /ŋ/.
You don’t need to pronounce the /g/ at the end of spring, sprang, and sprung, but you will pronounce the /k/ at the end of bank, bonk, and bunk.
