# Cycle 118

## 118.1 Letter Combinations

{% embed url="<https://youtu.be/D4M1JaxT7yw>" %}

#### Purpose and Procedure

This task introduces the letter combination *ur* as in *nurse*.

## 118.4 Patterns

#### Purpose and Procedure

In this task, students practice the minor sound of *g* within -VCe patterns. All of the words in this task have an *a* before the *g*.

## 118.7 Word Parts

#### Purpose and Procedure

This is the first of a series of tasks that introduces students to words that start with *be-*, *de-*, *re-*, and *pre-*, where those beginnings are all unstressed first syllables in which the letter *e* can make the schwa sound (/ə/).

Because it is especially important that students hear the schwa sound in these words before repeating them, you will use the sound buttons in this task rather than reading the words yourself.
