This task introduces the letter combination ow as in snow.
This is the first time students are asked to read -VCe pattern words ending in -ment, -ly, -ness, ‑ful, and -less suffixes without the base words being underlined.
This task is the first in a series that introduces students to three beginnings (pre-, post-, and re-) and their meanings ("before," "after," and "again"). Students touch and repeat the beginnings after you say them.
Note that in this task, pre- is pronounced /prē/ and re- is pronounced /rē/ (rather than being pronounced with schwa sounds) because they are accented syllables.
The words in this task all begin with pre-.
